About RareJob
RareJob provides an online English-teaching route for tutors based in the Philippines. The work centers on scheduled lessons and learner communication, with screening before tutors begin teaching.
What the work involves
Practise explaining a simple grammar point aloud and correcting a learner politely. Test your microphone and connection in the room you will use. Plan preparation time around your teaching slots so your effective hourly earnings include the work between lessons.
₱5,000–₱10,000/month
If your agreed payment were ₱100 per completed lesson slot, 50–100 paid slots would produce ₱5,000–₱10,000 before expenses and tax. The ₱100 rate is a calculation input, not a published RareJob offer. Replace it with your onboarding rate and count completed paid slots, not all the slots you open.
Filipinos using this platform
RareJob states it has helped more than 17,000 Filipino tutors over its history. This is not a current count of paid or active tutors.

Your questions about RareJob
Is RareJob an employee position?
Tutors work under an independent-contractor arrangement. Read the contract for responsibilities, scheduling and payment terms before accepting lessons.
Does opening more slots guarantee more pay?
No. Available slots still need to become booked lessons. Open times you can consistently teach, prepare a clear tutor introduction and track which hours students actually book. Budget from completed paid lessons rather than all the hours you make available.
Do I need Japanese language skills?
You do not need to speak Japanese to apply. Focus on clear English explanations, patient correction and helping the student practise speaking.
How can I encourage repeat lessons?
Keep a short note of the student’s goal and what they found difficult. End the lesson with one useful correction and a clear next step. Use the next session to practise that point so the learner can see their progress.
How should I prepare a teaching workspace?
Test your microphone and connection before a lesson, choose a quiet space and keep the lesson materials ready. Plan what to do if your connection drops. Leave preparation time between other commitments so you can start each session ready to teach.
What should I do before and after a booked lesson?
Before the lesson, review the student’s profile and lesson request so you can prepare the relevant materials. During teaching, follow RareJob’s lesson procedures and materials. Afterwards, record feedback on progress so both the student and other tutors have useful information for future lessons.
Which income records should I keep?
Retain your teaching payment statements and reconcile them with the amounts received. Keep any withholding documents provided to you and records of teaching expenses. These are useful when working through the online-income tax guide.
