General Employment Permit

From 1 March 2026 the standard minimum annual remuneration is EUR 36,605. Certain named occupations, including qualifying healthcare assistants and home support workers, have a EUR 32,691 threshold. Occupation eligibility and employer conditions still apply.

What counts

The permit calculation has rules about basic pay, qualifying health insurance and working hours. Critical Skills permits use separate requirements. Request the permit category rather than comparing an offer only with Ireland’s hourly minimum wage.

Critical Skills or General Employment Permit

Check the Critical Skills and General Employment Permit criteria against the written offer. Professional registration is a separate task for regulated occupations.
